GOOD weather and a great atmosphere brought the crowds in their droves to Hatherleigh Carnival on Saturday to enjoy the fancy dress walkers and floats in all their glory.
Shopkeepers joined in the celebrations by decorating their windows which provided the colour before the children's procession in the afternoon, led by town crier Ross Chard and Hatherleigh Silver Band.
Fellow criers from different towns were also invited along to walk side by side with the children, making a brilliant sight in the afternoon sunshine.
The crowning of the queen Laura Reddaway and prince and princess Andrew Collier and Martha Fawcett was carried out by carnival president Jean Newcombe.
The evening procession saw many floats of an exceptionally high standard and the crowds were the biggest ever seen, according to organisers, who have expressed thanks to everyone who made the day so successful and safe.
