TWO young swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club took part in the Tiverton Open Sprint Gala.
Harry Thompson, 10, competed in the 50m freestyle and the 50m backstroke events in his age group, where strong swims earned him personal best times and a placing just outside the six swimmers who qualified for the final.
In the 50m breaststroke heats, a super swim gave him the second fastest time and a place in the final. In the final, a good swim ensured that he was rewarded with a silver medal — his first individual medal in a swimming gala.
Kieran Rookes, 11, participated in four events in his age group competition, where personal best times in the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke earned him a first place in the freestyle and a second place in the backstroke.
Kieran carried on producing good swims during the day, which gave him further success — wins in both the 50m breaststroke and the 100m individual medley.
Congratulations go to these two young swimmers on their success and especially to Harry, who achieved his first swimming gala medal.
