IT is that time of year when I must say a big thank you to all who have supported Margaret Green Animal Rescue at Brentor via my stall in Tavistock Pannier Market.

This past year has not been so good for donations as in previous years, due partly to the economic climate.

Everyone has had to rein in their spending and it is always charities that suffer first. Nevertheless, people have been quite generous and every penny that is donated has been gratefully received.

The total of donations for 2011 is as follows: collection tin £130.07; sale of cards £126; book sale £129; making a grand total of £385.07.

The cats and dogs at Wingletang are very grateful for all money received. I would also like to thank those who from time to time donate cat and dog food. Again it is most appreciated.

I am holding another book sale this year from January to the end of March in Tavistock Market but only on Fridays. So if you want something to read come and visit me.

Because of the current climate there are lots of cats and dogs waiting for forever homes at Wingletang at Brentor, so if you are looking to replace a much-loved pet who has sadly passed away, come and have a look at the pets waiting for new homes.

Once again many thanks from Margaret Green Animal Rescue, Wingletang, Brentor.

ON behalf of Yelverton and District Children's Hospice South West Friends' Group I would like to express a sincere thank you to all local businesses and residents for their fantastic support over the past year.

Their generosity enabled us to riase £12,857 which will go towards the running costs of three children's hospices.

ON behalf of the Lamerton Handbell Ringers we would like to express our very grateful thanks to all those organisation and individuals for the kind hospitality we received at our annual handbell festival and functions we performed at leading up to Christmas.

Each year money that is collected is donated to a chosen charity and this year £320 has been sent to CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young). Sincere thanks to everyone.
