THE Calstock Parish Archive Trust is the recipient of a grant of almost £500 from the local Cornwall Community Fund.

Cornwall Councillor for Calstock Dorothy Kirk presented a cheque for £474.24 to Vic Harman, treasurer of the trust, from her community fund.

The Calstock Parish Archive Trust is run solely by volunteers and the money will be used for the purchase of archival sleeves.

When documents are donated to the archive a copy is made and the original stored safely elsewhere in an 'archival sleeve' — acid free, to be used as a master copy. The photocopy of this document is for the public to use when they visit. As a general rule, a loaned document will be copied digitally before being returned to its owner.

The archive has several thousand documents, ranging from 14th century to last week and the team is always on the look out for more — any deeds, leases, old posters, shop invoices, photographs or anything relating to Calstock parish.
