CALLINGTON Town Band was joined by the Callington Gospel Choir for its Spring Concert at Callington Methodist Church recently — the band's first concert since the fire at their bandroom. The musical entertainment included solos and a good variety of music from shows, marches, overtures and religious music. The youngest soloist was percussionist 15 year-old Henry McGowan, who had the audience clapping and cheering at his performance of Drummer's Delight. The training band, which now numbers fifteen members, also performed two pieces. Several awards were presented, the first going to eight year-old Gregory Caves who was deemed to have made most progress in the training band. Anyone interested in joining the main band or the training band should contact Paul Boase on 01579 383741. In most cases instruments can be borrowed free of charge.
