JJ Jones Duchy premier Gunnislake 2
Lamerton 0
GUNNISLAKE's players proved with hardwork, determination and belief they have the ability to be a suprise package this year in the premier league. Who would have predicted after two games they would be undefeated and have taken four points out of six.
Despite a 45 minute delay due to the late arrival of the referee Gunnislake started at an immense pace, pressurising each pass and wining the majority of 50/50 challenges.
The game was only 10 minutess old when a long ball and flick on found inform striker Kieran Jasper one on one with the keeper and he let fly from 20yds to give the Lamerton keeper no chance - Jasper's third goal in two games.
With the Gunnislake tails now up the midfield four of Warwick, Wakenshaw, King and Avery stamped their authority on the game and created numerous chances for Gunnislake to increase their lead — with King and Dave Healy going close.
The teams went into half-time with Gunnislake leading 1-0.
In the second half Gunnislake continued to enjoy most of the possession and Lamerton unable to break down the compact back four of Doidge, Gaggini, Wilson and Stephens.
Gunnislake pressed but couldn't double their lead. An injury to Jasper saw Steve Vine complete a fine move; a neat finish from a tight angle six yards from goal.
Lamerton had other ideas and with their best spell in the game forced goalkeeper Mark Southcott into three goalbound saves of which the first was top class. However, Gunnislake held firm to come away with a deserved three points.
Man of the match was Gunnislake's Dean Wilson.
