AFTER missing a game last week against Marjons C team, Okehampton men's hockey team travelled to play Marjons B in the Gerrard Hockey league.
Despite poor weather the sides produced an open game and early on there was little to choose between them.
Okehampton had a goal disallowed which seemed to inspire them to raise their game and try to get the ball into the net again.
Persistent pressure paid off and Andrew Carter's pinpoint pass was well controlled by Colin Lethbridge who gave himself time and space to slot the ball into the Marjons' goal.
Marjons' reply was to attack the Okehampton goal and the visitors survived a couple of near misses with Nick Kearley having to make useful saves.
Okehampton had to increase their lead in the second half and had a well struck short corner disallowed before a neat passing move set Simon Bourne up to score the second goal.
A good team defensive effort with Carter once again on good form meant Okehampton were able to keep a clean sheet and take three valuable points here.
This Saturday Okehampton play PGOSB A at the college all-weather pitch at 1pm.
There will be another coaching session for 10-14 year old hockey players on Sunday February 10 between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
All players, boys and girls, will be welcome to come along and play.
