HURDWICK Golf Club held their 12th annual charity event to benefit the Motor Neurone Disease Charity in memory of the club?s first secretary, Tim Reeder, who sadly died of the disease.

The winners and runners-up were both pairs from Hurdwick and each scored 42 points. In first place, on back nine, were Ray Spear and George Sargison and they won the Tim Reeder Cup.

In second spot was the father and son team of Rob and Jason Archer, and Kevin Pugh from Hurdwick and Martin Channon from Tavistock were third with 41 points. David Cowie, Neil Tamblin and Roger Downing shared the ?Twos? sweep.

The total to be raised for the charity is expected to exceed £400.

Earlier this month, the midweek medal was won by Phil Bryant with a net 70. Tony Pearson was second with 71 and Chris Dicker third with 75. The lady winner was Audrey Pugh.

In late September, a medal was held in memory of another Hurdwick stalwart, Bill Bower. Bill was a founder member of the club and died two years ago. A trophy is competed for annually and the 2004 winner was Clive Edmunds with a net 69. In second was Martin Stevens with 71 and Tony Pearson was third with 73. The leading lady was Elizabeth Raikes.
