THE Golfers Guide Dog Society (GGDS) has raised more than £3,000 which will enable sponsorship of a puppy for the third year running.

For more than 25 years GGDS has been organising charity golf days in Devon and Cornwall to raise funds for Guide Dogs.

At the end of July, GGDS played for the Mike Kitchenham Memorial Trophy at the Tavistock Golf Club.

Tavistock members, Jack and Ben Philpotts, were successful in winning the trophy and more importantly raised in excess of £3,200 towards the society’s target of £6,000 for this year.

As a result, the society was able to present a cheque for £3,000 to the Guide Dogs.

This was received on behalf of Guide Dogs by Molly, the puppy being sponsored this year.

A spokesperson from GGDS said: ‘The financial success of this event was very much due to the generosity of the sponsors, including many local businesses who sponsored holes and donated raffle prizes and items for the secret auction.’
