KELLY College Athletics Club travelled to the Devon County and Schools AA Combined Events Championships in Exeter last week end.
After a successful two days of competition, they returned with one gold and two bronze individual medals and with sets of three gold and one bronze medals in the team events.
This followed the Plymouth and West Devon Schools AA Pentathlon Championships at the Brickfields in Plymouth the previous week. At these, Tammy Wood won the individual gold and the junior girls? team of Tammy, Claire Bruna and Whitney Bowrin won their team event.
At Exeter, the girls, in particular, performed well. In the senior girls? heptathlon, the team of Katie and Tamara Renouf and Alex Sutton won the team gold medals and Katie the individual bronze medal.
Over the two days, Katie broke the school heptathlon record; the Renouf twins also gained selection for the Devon team to compete in the South West Championships in June.
Also selected for the South West Championships were Amie Trewin, who won gold in the intermediate girls? heptathlon, and Tammy Wood, who won bronze in the junior girls? pentathlon.
Both the Kelly teams won the pentathlon team gold medals in the junior age group.
The boys? team was made up of Harry Wyatt, Lorne Bell and Douglas Willats, while the girls? team was Tammy Wood, Whitney Bowrin and Megan Tinsley, who replaced the injured Claire Brun.
The U13 girls? team of Katie Eadie, Gabriella Murphy and Christine Corlet won the team bronze medals in their pentathlon event.
