League Cup

Ilfracombe Ladies 2

Okehampton Ladies 9

HAVING previously competed with Ilfracombe in the Devon Cup and come away with a win, Okehampton travelled optimistically to play this midweek fixture.

The away side began confidently and managed to keep one step ahead throughout. Okehampton were 2-0 up within the first 15 minutes, both goals from Kelly Cooper, who went on to score six.

By half-time it was 7-0 and Okehampton looked to be heading to their second quarter-final of the season.

The second half saw a few changes giving Ilfracombe a chance to attack and they scored two quick goals. But the game was too far ahead of them and Okehampton picked up a couple more goals before the final whistle.

Alongside Cooper, Karen Fuell, Hayley Vincent and Michelle Vaughan all scored excellent goals.

An outstanding team performance.

Players of the match: the whole team.

Okehampton Ladies 0

Plymouth Oak Villa 6

PLAYING the league leaders was always going to be tough, but Okehampton were also a few players short. It was not a great shock that Plymouth dominated throughout and went away with three points.

But Okehampton defended well, endless work coming from Miki and Sam Burdus. When the opportunity arose the home side attacked positively with some nice movement along the wings and through the middle.

Kelly Cooper was denied one-on-ones with the keeper by offside decisions and Michelle Vaughan had a couple go wide.

Lynda Cann and Karen Fuell fought well in midfield and Kerrie Drew made some excellent saves. Despite a lot of effort from all the players, Okehampton were outplayed by this top-of-the-table team.

Players of match: Miki and Sammy Burdus.

This Sunday, away to Exeter Rangers.
