Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 5 Okehampton 0 THIS was a non-league match with Tavistock opening the game with some strong attacking play from Robynne Honey, Jo Gaspar and Judy Miller. Miller was in the ?D? for the ball to be crossed to her from either Lisa Butler or Emma White. Both these midfield players were excellent re-inforcement for the running play of Laura Armstrong who had strong possession on the ball. The first goal came from Miller as Gaspar hit the ball at the goal and Miller finished it off, putting it past the side of the keeper. Heads were up high and Tavistock were playing a good passing game. When the ball did break the half-way line the defensive tackles of Susannah Boulle, Fiona Dunn and Laura Stapleton stopped the opposition every time. These players were then able to feed the ball back to the good formation of Gaspar, Honey and Butler. Miller scored the second goal of the match again from being a threat in the ?D? and poaching any rogue ball that the defence were unable to clear. It was not long before Armstrong scored the third goal from a great drive up the pitch to get past numerous defence and score an easy goal. The second half saw Tavistock take a dip in their play thus allowing Okehampton to enter the ?D? and get awarded a few short corners. Unfortunately Dunn and White cleared the ball preventing a direct strike. Kate Eadie had a good game and really shone in the second half. When winning a tackle she was able to distribute the ball into the ?D? to Miller or Armstrong. Miller scored her hat trick of the match from a lovely strike from Butler to Honey. White nearly scored from an excellent short corner. The strike was dominant and clean but Tavistock could not finish it off in the goal. Stapleton and Dunn pushed up the pitch to be a real threat to the defence of the opposition and Okehampton could not find a way past these players. Armstrong scored the last goal of the match from the ball being superbly passed between White, Boulle and Eadie. The team were pleased with their performance on the pitch as they played a high standard of hockey. The match from last Saturday was cancelled due to the opposition?s pitch being unplayable. This week Tavistock are at home, Bickleigh Barracks, with a 12.30pm start against Plym Valley. Tavistock: Fiona Dunn, Susannah Boulle, Lisa Butler, Emma White, Jo Gaspar, Robynne Honey, Laura Stapleton, Judy Miller, Laura Armstrong, Kate Eadie.
