Carlsberg South Western League Tavistock 8 Goonhavern 0 AFTER three defeats and two draws the Lambs got back to winning ways with this demolition of strugglers Goonhavern. It was a tentative opening for the Lambs as they almost got caught out at the back but Mike Arscott saved the day with a last ditch tackle on Tom Ball to prevent the visitors going ahead. Goonhavern?s keeper Steven Raven kept his side in the game with a series of saves as the Lambs threatened to overhaul their opponents. They went ahead after half an hour when Lee Ireland sent Pete Floyd away with a through ball to send in a shot over Raven from 30 metres. Substitute Paul Cowling came on at the start of the second half, replacing the injured Jimmy Kiely, with the home side scoring in the first minute. Floyd worked himself in the area to send in a shot that Raven blocked. But it fell to the onrushing James Steer to slot home in the top corner. Two further goals before the hour saw the Lambs put the game beyond reach of their visitors. Steve Daly?s high through ball was missed by a defender for Cowling to lob the ball over the keeper. And Cowling was provider to deftly back heel the ball into the path of Floyd to get his second. Floyd found the target with 15 minutes remaining as he curled one into the top corner to complete his hat-trick. An unfortunate handball decision in the area allowed Stringer to slot home from the spot. Floyd was not finished as he harried the back four and keeper to give him the chance to stab home. In the dying moments, a Lee Coxon run down the left allowed Daly to put in Cowling to make it eight. l The league fixtures and cup draws have not been kind to the Lambs as they now find themselves on the road for the following eight weeks before they entertain Newquay on Saturday December 2 at Langsford Park. In between there are a couple of blank Saturdays and the cup draws involve travel to Penryn in the Carlsberg South Western League Cup, Friary Vaults (Plymouth) in the Devon Premier Cup and last Monday?s F A Vase draw at Soho Square sees them take on Western Premier League side Bideford on Saturday November 18. There will be a parade of players as they are reintroduced to the Langsford Park faithful in December. l Fixtures ? There are no Carlsberg or East Cornwall fixtures this Saturday, but a full training session has been arranged for both sides. Wednesday: East Cornwall Premier League div 1 away to Biscovey (Par).
