Callington 4

St Dominick Res 1

ST DOMINICK raced into a five-minute lead when, from a corner, Snowden was unchallenged as he powered a header into the net. Callington regrouped and were soon creating chances, but without really testing St Dominick?s keeper.

Callington have added Matt Reid to their squad during the week and he has linked up with brothers, Adam and Tom, to play together for the first time. His take no prisoners approach will add to Callington?s push for honours.

With Smith and Mcpherson attacking the wide areas there was no let up for St Dominick. Callington got level after a Truscott special ripped through the keeper?s hands.

Callington got their act together in the second half. This coincided with the introduction of Pete Floyd, whose selfless running tore the St Dominick defence to pieces. When Smith?s deflected shot, from the edge of the penalty area, found the net, St Dominick knew they were up against a side with renewed confidence but made Callington work hard for the two further goals they were to score. The first was a low, hard close-range drive from Mcpherson and the second a controlled side-footer from Floyd.

Callington?s push for honours is not being helped by still having almost half a season worth of games to be played in the last few weeks.

Lifton 3

Calstock 2

CALSTOCK fielded a weak side because five key players were sidelined through injuries.

Lifton took full advantage and soon led. A Calstock own goal, and a disallowed penalty when Calstock claimed a Lifton player handled on the line was the only talking point that separated both teams in this lacklustre game.

Pensilva 1

Calstock 3

A RUTTED pitch would put both teams to the test. Calstock pressed early, but against the run of play Pensilva took the lead with a hotly disputed offside goal.

Calstock pressured again. Ian Cook for the visitors put in a hopeful shot, and the Pensilva keeper fumbled the ball into the net.

The second half saw Calstock under pressure for the first 20 minutes without a let up. Garry Underwood, making his debut for Calstock, played out of his skin, with some skilful defending. Jason Hewitt played his usual strong game, and there was good goalkeeping from Calstock?s veteran keeper, Michael Yarwood.

Calstock changed gear resulting in Barry Hemmett scoring the visitors? second, Kev McCann crossed a perfect ball allowing Ian Cook to score his second. With the light failing Pensilva pressed home their attack, but to no avail.
