Tavistock Thistles U15s 9

Woodford Colts U15s 2

THE THISTLES performed superbly to record this team's best ever win and move themselves in to the division's leading pack.

Thistles dominated the opening stages and were two up inside seven minutes. They were out battling their opponents and playing good football and by midway through the half had taken a commanding three goal lead — all scored by Glenn Tremblett.

The visitors began to get more into the game and with a few useful attackers they posed some problems themselves, although Thistles always looked the more likely to score.

With half time approaching Woodford scored a good goal but Thistles were in no mood to let their dominant position slip and Tremblett immediately added his fourth.

Thistles continued to be the better team in the second period and scored at regular intervals. Tremblett's strike partner Kaine Withers grabbed himself a hat-trick with the other two goals coming from captain Steve Price .

To their credit Woodford always kept going and attacked wherever possible. But, with the Thistles' back line of Dan Lowe, Josh Surface, Craig Erickson and Andy Davis in excellent form they rarely threatened Brad Monk's goal, although when they did the keeper dealt with all that came his way having no chance with Woodford's late consolation.

In midfield Harry Ogden typified Thistles' battling and fighting qualities while making several good surging forward runs. His midfield partner Mike Johnson used the ball with great confidence and vision while Ben Brown and Josh Drummond on the wings were a constant threat with skill, speed and good passing and crossing.
