TWO pupils from Mount House School have won scholarships to Sherborne Girls' School.
Winning a sports scholarship to Sherborne Girls is year 8 Millie Ridgers, a highly accomplished all-round sports woman.
Millie has represented the school with distinction at hockey, netball and rounders, and has captained the Under-11 netball and Under-13 hockey teams.
She won the freestyle swimming in years 1, 2, 3 and 4, breaking school records in years 2 and 3. In athletics, Millie won the 200m in years 4 and 5, competing against a year above, ran the 100m at the National Prep Schools championships and has represented the school in cross-country events around the region.
In the equestrian field, Millie has a winning track record in classes at the Mid-Devon, Chagford and several other shows, and has represented both the school and the Mid-Devon Hunt Pony Club regionally and nationally. She rides regularly with the Mid-Devon Hunt, and also takes part in triathlon events for the club.
Millie has been chosen to train and compete with the West Devon Satellite Netball Academy. She also captains the Chagford Under-13 Girls' cricket team.
Winning an all-rounder scholarship is year 8 pupil Zara Smith, who is a strong swimmer, representing Dinnaton Swim Club, as well as being a keen performer having passed her Grade 2 musical theatre.
Mount House School Headmaster Patrick Savage said: 'Zara is very well-deserving of her All-Rounder Scholarship and we are delighted to congratulate her on her recent success. She is multi-talented, displaying talent across a wide variety of sports and cultural activities.'
Zara has achieved Grade 5 and is currently working towards Grade 6 on violin, and is learning piano.
