Devon FA Women's League

Okehampton Argyle Ladies 0

Torbay Girls 5

OKEHAMPTON started in a positive mood. It was one of the best first-half performances, holding a very talented Torbay side

Torbay did get through to threaten Okehampton's goal but Karen Clark was equal to everything thrown at her with her best save coming midway through the half when she palmed a shot over the bar.

When Okehampton did attack the numbers up front were lacking. With a 0-0 scoreline at half-time. the change was made to play a 3-4-3 formation, but the decision was to back fire horribly - two quick goals at the beginning of the second half virtually killed the game off.

The formation was changed back to the regular 4-4-2 but the damage had been done.

Credit must go to the players though, as they battled to try and get a goal back, but midway through the half following an attack by Okehampton, a counter-attack caught them short at the back and a third goal followed. Two more goals towards the end sealed the win.

Okehampton keeper Karen Clark only joined the side a couple of weeks ago, having played five-a-side. With a little coaching she has started to play very well in goal. Team captain Lynda Cann has grown in stature, her tackling is her main attribute. Another talented player is Lisa White, who carries on running for the whole game and never gives up on anything.
