A WEST Devon teenager has raised thousands of pounds for charity after covering more than 15 miles in her wheelchair.
Ginny Butcher, aged 14 and a student at Kelly College, presented a cheque for the £3,642.83p to Clare Hutton of Help4Heroes.
Ginny, who is an electric wheelchair user, raised the money by riding four times around Burrator Reservoir this summer, accompanied by many friends, family, and their dogs.
She decided to take on the challenge to show that despite being in a wheelchair, people can still aim high and achieve wonderful things, if they are determined and have the support of people around them.
Ginny was stunned and grateful for the generosity shown towards her challenge and Help4Heroes, and by raising over £3,640 hugely exceeded her initial target of £500.
Her next aim is to take part in the Jubilee Challenge on the Ten Tors weekend, with a team from Kelly College.
Vanessa Bowles, school secretary at Kelly College, said: 'Ginny is a very determined teenager, and following the success of this half marathon, I feel sure the Jubilee Challenge will be within her grasp!'
