THE Christmas spirit will be all the better at Trengweath School this year — thanks to Dartmoor Prison.
The prison has forged close links with the Plymouth school for profoundly disabled children — this latest seasonal gift is for two Christmas trees and £1,000 raised by prisoners.
Roger Brown, head of inmate activities, said: 'Christmas is a special time for children and there are no more deserving children than those at Trengweath. We hope that perhaps the trees and the donations will encourage lots more presents from the local community for a truly marvellous organisation.'
He said Christmas was 'a tough time' for prisoners who are separated from their families. 'But it is all to their credit that they have generously thought of others less fortunate than them.'
