CHILDREN at Whitchurch Primary had to find alternative ways to get to school last Thursday — Car Free Day.

The Devon County Council initiative encourages children to come to school by alternative means other than by car.

The pupils found many ways to do so, including cycling and scootering.?Prizes for the most original way of travelling were handed out to a pupil who came to school on a pony and a pupil who arrived on stilts.

Prizes were also given out on the day for the most 'blinged' bike or scooter and a prize for the best fancy dress.

Parents and pupils came into school early on the day to enjoy the 'Bikers Breakfast', to which Morrisons had donated food vouchers.
