Wellington . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 31

Tavistock . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 20

THE first half was even and Tavistock could have counted themselves as unlucky not to be ahead at half time when but for some poor finishing they could have scored at least one more try.

Wellington scored a converted try and penalty and Tavistock answered with a penalty goal converted by fly half Josh Sutton and a try from the dangerous Richard Huish on the right wing.

The second half however was dominated for long periods by the Wellington pack and only some exceptional defence by Tavistock centres Duncan Law and Mike Lyddon in particular limited Wellington to three second half tries.

Toward the end of the second half when the Tavistock forwards began to gain parity with their Wellington counterparts Tavistock showed their travelling supporters that they were able to cut through the Wellington defence and scored two tries.

Number eight Andrew Griffiths powered his way over from close range and then centre Mike Lyddon carved through for an excellent try close to the posts. Josh Sutton converted the final try.

On Saturday Tavistock are at home to Falmouth. Kick off 3pm.
