Tavistock U15s 4 Hooe Rovers U15s 0 WITH only 11 players available and a win vital, Tavistock got off to a jittery start. They soon settled down, however, and Kelly put the ball through to Doyle who slotted in Tavistock?s much needed first goal. It wasn?t long before the home team took command. Court had a shot punched over the bar and joined with Doyle for some excellent play on the right. It was Smerdon from defence who supplied a great through ball to Bray who scored number two. There were some scary moments at the other end too when Derbyshire gave away an unnecessary free kick which almost resulted in a goal for Hooe and Webber had to make a great save after a defensive error. Kelly cleared two balls off the line and Smallwood saved the day when offside was assumed but not given. After this sticky period Tavistock came back and Lyle scored from a Webber kick to make it 3-0 to Tavistock. Lyle beat the keeper to the ball, cut it back to Bray who blasted it into the net. Everyone wanted to score now, which let carelessness into the game. Hooe never gave up and it was only through Webber?s excellent goal keeping skills that they were denied any goals in reply. Man of the match Mark Webber. Manager?s man of the match Simon Kelly.
