THIS month Food and Drink Devon, in association with Ruby Country and the Dartmoor Partnership are having two 'Local Food' events promoting the excellent range of produce in the surrounding region.

The events offer a chance to find out what is available locally under one roof and see a wide variety of produce from cheese and chutneys, to beef, venison, pork and lamb, pates, jams, juices and yoghurt. Organic vegetables, pies, cakes, pastries and beers will also be available to taste and buy.

Open to the general public and the hospitality industry it is a good opportunity to get local food on the menu.

These events are being organised by Food & Drink Devon and set up to offer business support and training opportunities to small scale local food and drink producers.

The two 'Buy Local Food' events, held between 10.30am and 3.30pm are taking place at the Hatherleigh Community Centre on September 17 and on September 24 at Brimpts Farm, Dartmeet, near Two Bridges on Dartmoor.
