REHEARSALS have begun for the Hatherleigh Players latest production — The Importance of Being Earnest. Oscar Wilde's wit and humour will be on display throughout the 1920s version of his classic comedy play. The audience can expect Charleston dancing, mistaken identities, and much more. The shows will be performed on Sunday, July 20 at Hatherleigh Community Centre, with doors opening at 3.30pm, and on Saturday, July 26 at Castle Drogo, in the gardens. Gates opens at 6pm for a 6.30pm performance. All proceeds from the Drogo performance will be split between the Hatherleigh Players and the Save Castle Drogo project, one of the biggest renovation projects ever undertaken by the National Trust. Tickets are available from Richard Tidball Insurance Services on 01837 810010 for both performances and Castle Drogo for the Drogo performance. Adult tickets are £7, concessions £5 and children £3.
