WITH planning beginning in earnest for the Okehampton Show on August 14, the schedules for the open section competitions at the event are now available.

Competitions in gardening, needle work, flower arranging, cookery, making preserves, growing vegetables, painting and photography are available, among others. There is a variety of age groups for children.

There will also be a family competition to 'make a robot', with the most inventive and fun design claiming the prize.

Organisers of the show encourage anyone interested to enter, as it is a fantastic way to be part of the event. There will be prize money on offer to each category winner —and those who accrue the most overall points in a particular section will be presented with a cup to celebrate their win.

The schedules are available from Mole Avon, the newsagents by West Bridge, Okehampton Library and from the show office.
