ENTRIES are being sought for the annual five-legged race to raise money for Children in Need on November 17. Over the past few years this event, organised by Okehampton 41 Club, has become part of the town?s calendar and has raised thousands of pounds for the charity. Teams of four with their legs bound at the ankles race around eight of the pubs in town only pausing for a well-earned drink at each one. Teams can be sponsored by anybody including friend?s families and workmates but late entries are always welcome from any team prepared to pay a £5 entry fee. There will be lots of prizes to be won on the night for the winners in the men?s, women?s and mixed classes, the best-dressed team and the team which has raised the most sponsorship on the night. Entry forms are available at DIY Supplies in St James Street and also at Okehampton Post Office and should be completed and handed in there as soon as possible. For any enquiries contact Paul Harrison on 07785 747617. Chairman of the 41 Club Terry Steer said: ?As Okehampton people know the five legged race has become the town?s major contribution to the Children In Need appeal and we hope to have even more entries this year. I am sure that once again we can look forward to an incredibly good turnout from participants and spectators alike and a really good fun evening.? The start will be at Simmons Park and the finish at The Fountain Hotel. Entrants need to check in by 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
