IT'S TIME to get in that party mood again because Okehampton is planning a day to remember to celebrate the Queen Mother's 100th birthday next Friday (August 4.)
Townspeople are being encouraged to come out and join in the fun which starts at 11.30am and continues until late in the evening.
Organised by the Okehampton Chamber of Trade in partnership with Okehampton Town Council, the event is being put on to mark the 'life of a great lady.'
Bring your sandwiches along to Simmons Park for the main 'Picnic in the Park' event which will also include a number of sideshows, a bouncy castle, jugglers, a magician, face painting, children's sports and games and ferret racing.
A senior citizens' tea and sing-a-long is being held in the Charter Hall from 3pm to 5pm and musical maestro Ray Dean will be picking out songs that are pertinent to each decade of the Queen Mother's life.
One hundred years will also be charted in an exhibition at the Museum of Dartmoor Life.
For the children there will be a junior disco from 6pm to 7.30pm in the Charter Hall and following this the adults can strut their stuff on the dance floor until late to the sounds of the Mayfair Duo.
Derek Godfrey Brown from the chamber said the good response from local businesses to a plea for donations was very much appreciated.
'These donations have made the event possible and we now just hope for fine weather and a lot of people to turn out on the day to celebrate the life of a great lady.'
