DANCE in Devon is putting on a special event up at Haytor, to get as many people dancing together as possible, as part of July is 'dance month' — one of the Team Devon themed months.

This is one of a number of events in the South West marking the Cultural Olympiad open weekend. There will be live music and dancing in traditional style but with a twist!

All the family is welcome and people are encouraged to bring a picnic and watch the dancers or better still join in for the mass participation dance.

It's fun and easy to do and the event near Haytor takes place between noon and 2pm.

Dance in Devon is the local agency which likes to take dance activities to unusual outdoor places and make the most of our beautiful countryside.

Director Gillian Dale said: 'A lot of artists are inspired by the wonderful landscape and dancers are the same, they come to Devon especially to find new inspiration for their dance.

'This is an opportunity for everyone to take part in a mass participation dance and to see Dartmoor in a whole new light.'
