PREPARATIONS are well underway for this year's Calstock Festival which is featuring food as its theme. Now in its 16th year the festival, which raises funds for the Calstock Village Hall, runs from Friday, May 27 to Friday, June 3. The highlight is the festival day on Saturday, May 28 when there will be an outdoor market on the village green, live bands and a wide selection of food and drink available. During the week there will be activites and events to suit all tastes, including a jazz café, folk night and a DJ night. The organisers have also arranged a Bollywood evening with a mouthwatering range of curries and a film. There will also be the festival?s own gardeners? question time with a panel which will include the head gardener from Cotehele. The Peterloo Poets Chapel will be the venue for Denise Marie on Wednesday, June 1 for an evening of New Orleans Jazz, Blues and Latin infused folk. The final gig on Friday, June 3 will feature Species, formerly Doctors of Dub, together with a dance spectacular and UV light show. Support band will be Source Badger. Festival spokesman Jenny Coleman said: ?Festival is a time when the entire village comes together and festival day is a great day out for the whole family.?
