PREPARATIONS are really picking up for this year?s Okehampton Carnival, which takes place on Saturday October 16.
The organising committee is hoping for a fantastic day of fun in which everyone in the town will get involved ? and which will raise lots of money for this year?s main charity, Devon Air Ambulance, plus other local groups.
The day will begin with the judging of the all-day collectors and children?s classes in the Charter Hall, starting at 1.15pm.
Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band will lead the prince and princess in the children?s procession, starting at 3.15pm from School Way.
The evening procession will start at 7.15pm, with the band again leading the queen, her attendants and a variety of colourful floats from Station Road through the town centre.
As carnival day approaches, entry forms for the evening procession will be available from JC Books, 9 The Arcade, and Crafty Cards in Red Lion Yard ? carnival day programmes will also be available.
And to raise further funds for this popular event, the committee will hold a quiz night at the Plume of Feathers on Thursday September 9, starting at 7.30pm. Entry is £5 per team of four.
