AFTER the huge success of their monthly tea dances for over 50s in Okehampton, organisers Time for Life are urging people interested in other activity groups to come forward so they can secure funding.
Time for Life is looking to establish two new groups for 2015. The first is an informal film club that will be starting up at Castle Ham Lodge this month.
The films being chosen will be classics and films from the 1930s and 1940s, hired from the library and shown on a large screen in the afternoon or early evening.
The second is a play reading group which will meet twice a month in the Glen. At each session people would take parts and read through a short one-act play. An experienced facilitator would lead the group. A small charge would be made to include refreshments.
Time for Life has had conversations with the Okehampton United Charity over funding the groups. To secure the funding, Time for Life needs to show that people are interested in attending.
At the same time, Time for Life is looking to restart its creative writing group with facilitator Angela Phillips.
It will run at Castle Ham Lodge on a fortnightly basis, with no times or dates yet finalised.
The group will probably choose a subject to write about and then members share their written piece with the group, which may or may not give critical feedback. The aim of the group would be to encourage creative output in a safe and comfortable setting.
The 'Fun with Fabric' sessions will also be re-established. New volunteer facilitators will be there to welcome and support anyone interested in sitting and sewing and chatting together for an afternoon twice a month.
The group will meet on Monday afternoons from 2pm to 4pm for a trial period of two months. The initial dates are February 9 and 23.
If you would be interested in attending any of the three groups, please contact Jenny Beavon on 01822 810564 or e-mail [email protected]">[email protected]
