WITHIN the last two days I have received an invitation from an optician situated in the town of Tavistock to visit the premises for eye tests, etc.
In days gone by, I have indeed made use of this business, and many others, too. Tavistock has never been an easy town to shop in, due to the distance between the shops and the main car park, but, with it being our nearest centre, we persevered.
However, the building of the gateway on the direct route from Dousland to Tavistock proved the final straw. I now do my ordinary shopping and banking, and make use of the optical services at Plymstock Broadway. Here you can park free for a reasonable time of two hours, the car park is close to the centre, and I can get there without the hassle and undoubted risk of running the gateway.
As my late respected father in law would have said with a little smile : 'Cause . . . and effect!'
