STERTS Theatre present Bugsy Malone at a charity gala night, July 12, 7.30pm.
Following in the footsteps of ?Oliver? and ?The Wind in the Willows?, Sterts Theatre once again presents a fantastic musical comedy with something for everyone!
Alan Parker?s adaptation of his own hit musical Bugsy Malone is transferred from the silver screen to the stage.
Set in a world of would-be gangsters, showgirls and dreamers, 60 young singers, actors and dancers burst onto the stage with a great interpretation of this classic musical comedy.
It?s 1920s New York and Bugsy Malone ? not the smartest guy in town but with an air about him, a sort of inner dignity ? is finding it harder to keep on the straight and narrow rather than going crooked.
Then there?s Blousey Brown, who is gonna be famous and Fat Sam, ?Mobster king of the Lower East Side?. Meet them all when we enter the glamorous and shadowy world of Fat Sam?s Speakeasy and witness the hilarious gangster battles with lethal custard pies and splurge guns. Gasp in admiration as this talented young cast charges along with exuberant energy.
The Sterts Charity Gala this year is in aid of The Kindu Trust ? a Plymouth based charity first launched in 1998, helping needy children in Ethiopia.
The Kindu Trust has seven family homes and one night shelter in five locations in Ethiopia providing residential care for over 100 children.
It feeds poor children at its Memorial Kitchen and sponsors more than 50 needy children in local communities as well as offering protection to many street children.
