YOUNG people from across West Devon will be taking part in the Devon Games to Inspire 2014 on Saturday at the University of Exeter Campus. The games provide young people in Devon with the opportunity to compete in 11 sports and activities. The sports on offer at the games include badminton, boccia, girls' cricket and rugby, aquathlon, tennis and volleyball. The West Devon team has been selected from children who live in or attend school in the district following local trials and the squad is being supported by Okehampton Community Recreation Association (OCRA). Teams will arrive at the University of Exeter Sports Park at 8.30am, where an exciting opening ceremony and mass warm-up by 5-a-Day Fitness will greet the young competitors. Events will take place throughout the day and final results will be announced at the closing ceremony, where trophies for fair play will be awarded, as well as an overall trophy to the winning area team at 4pm. The special guest will be Giselle Ansley, who has played cricket at regional level and recently made her debut against South Africa for the Great Britain Woman's hockey team.
