HORSES are the theme of the latest exhibition on display at the Salar Gallery in Hatherleigh.

The exhibition, ?Inspired by the Horse?, features paintings, sculptures and prints, all on an equine theme, from a number of locally-based artists.

The horse has been a source of inspiration for countless generations of artists who have admired its beauty, grace, speed and empathy with its human handlers. These characteristics have been expressed in many different ways by the artists and sculptors taking part in the exhibition.

A sculpture by Jo Seccombe depicts two children ?lost in their own world? brushing their pony. Jo said: ?I have tried to capture a moment in time between a brother, sister and their much loved equine friend.?

Other artists taking part include Colin Allbrook, Virginia Pope and Lucy Turmaine, with a note of humour injected through the work of Gerry Glinsman and Leila Winslade.

The exhibition runs until May 29. Opening times: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 10am-1pm and 2-5pm; and Wednesdays, 10am-1pm. For further details contact 01837 810940.
