THE new Tavyside Health Centre is opening its doors to the public this weekend for everyone to view all the new facilities on offer.
The staff — doctors, nurses, receptionists and administrative — will be giving guided tours of the building on Saturday (October 22) from between 1pm and 4pm.
Many of the 'behind the scenes' facilities will be shown during the guided tours, giving people a real insight into how a large doctors' surgery is run.
Tavistock's Sure Start Children's Centre has now moved into the Tavyside building and they too will be providing children's activities and a chance for new parents and carers to meet staff and have a look around.
Sure Start children's centres provide a variety of advice and support for parents and carers and their services are available from pregnancy right through to when a child goes into reception class at primary school.
A Sure Start Centre is somewhere children can make friends and learn as they play and parents can get professional advice on health and family matters, learn about training and job opportunities or just socialise with other people.
Within the Tavyside building is the new Tavyside Pharmacy which will also be open for visitors and offering a 'health check' service. The patients' association will be providing refreshments.
