Royal Oak U15s
Torpoint and Antony 1
Horrabridge Rangers 5
THE predominant feature in this game was the strong side wind, which threatened to blow the players off their feet.
From the start, Horrabridge showed Torpoint they meant business, and Michael Cornish scored within five minutes from a driven goal from close range.
Horrabridge were dominant and lots of forward running from the midfield as well as the attackers caused the home team all sorts of problems.
Dominic Beech and Matthew Milburn put in some crunching tackles, along with Ashley Gaden playing wide. Torpoint had few attacks of note and all were dealt with easily by the Horrabridge defence, which had a reshuffle.
The second goal was scored by Matthew Gaden from a free header in the eight yard box, from a Beech free kick, which showed the hard work they had put in on the training ground paid off.
This seemed to demoralise Torpoint who lost their next goal to a Beech penalty which was pushed to the side of an unlucky keeper.
The second half saw Horrabridge pound the Torpoint goal. David Harris got the ball from a Beech through pass, killed it with his first touch and drove past the Torpoint keeper.
Horrabridge kept their heads as many tackles few into them and showed a great attitude. Gaden took his goal tally past 20 when he scored the Bridgers? final goal.
Torpoint worked a consolation goal which was well taken by their midfielders.
Man of the match: Dominic Beech.
