HAPPY as a bunny to get into the 'rabbit habit' is rabbit show secretary Will Dodge from Okehampton.

Will, aged 42, has been section secretary for the past eight years and has himself been keeping rabbits for the past 30 years.

He said: 'When I was a boy I was in my parents car in Gloucestershire when we saw a sign saying "rabbits for sale." We went in and this man had about 70 hopping around - I was hooked. We bought one took it home and from then on I just got into the "rabbit" habit.'

This year, said Will, entries to the rabbit section have been slightly down but have still drawn a very respectable 70 entries including those from as far as Helston, Redruth, Camborne, Plymouth and Exeter as well as many from West Devon.

Cliff Penrose, who is well known for his skill of putting rabbits into a trance, come up from St Austell to judge the competition.

Will added: 'We try to make the rabbit show accessible to the public and a place where people can come up to those with experience and have a chat about looking after or showing their pet.'
