FUNDRAISING in the Bere Peninsula has been on top form during September and October with some old favourites. The most frequent and well attended events were jumble sales, car boots, and coffee mornings. A table top sale and cream tea was held at Barn Farm, in Bere Alston, in aid of the village?s carnival next year. Two separate coffee mornings were held in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care in Bere Alston and Bere Ferrers. Christian Aid then benefited when £170 was raised when ?Tea Times? was held in Bere Ferrers Church Hall. Bere Alston Bowling Club have also been holding regular monthly car boot sales at their new site and these have been well supported. Holy Trinity?s autumn jumble sale raised £160. A monster jumble sale was then held in the parish hall, with proceeds in aid of Bere Alston Carnival Committee and the Peninsula Players. Patients have recently been attending Bere Alston Medical Practice for preventative flu innoculations, and have been invited to give a donation to Macmillan Cancer Care for tea and biscuits.
