A FUN event starting at Dartmoor Railway in Okehampton is being held to raise money for the Mysathenia Gravis Association.
Mysathenia Gravis, known as the Rag Doll illness, is an auto immune disease which is characterised by fluctuating, sometimes fatal, muscle weakness. Simple things like eating, lifting arms, speaking to friends or laughing can become difficult or even impossible at times.
There are 250 people with the condition in Devon, and the association is looking to extend its support to them.
The fundraising event begins at the railway at 10.30am on Sunday, February 29, when Okehampton mayor Christine Marsh will be starting the activities.
Trains will take people to Meldon for the picturesque two-mile downhill walk back to Okehampton. The walk is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs as well as walkers.
Back at the station, there will be a barbecue with hot tea and coffee. The inclusive price is £5 per child, £8 per adult, or £25 for a family.
Tickets can be bought from the station, 01837 55637, or just turn up on the day.
