THE?sun shone on young and old at a day of celebration in Lifton on Saturday.

The fundraising May Fair, organised by the village's preschool, parent and baby toddler group, was held in the grounds of Lifton Community Primary School.

The event raises money to provide the preschool with resources to make the children's time there educational and inspiring, but most of all fun.

The preschool, for the children of Lifton and surrounding areas, is a committee-run charity and needs help to meet rising costs.

This year was particularly successful as the sun was out all day and 'Peppa Pig' came to say hello to the children. It was filled with stalls from various businesses and jewellery and craft stalls.

There were also games for children and adults — welly boot throwing, hoopla, a dice game and teddy bear raffle with a 5ft bear as the main prize. So many of the local businesses donated money and prizes that they held a silent auction for two golf days at Trethorne and Launceston Golf clubs.

The children of Lifton Primary School performed Maypole dancing and the day culminated in a draw which had £50 as the first prize.

The successful event raise £2,087.63.

The Preschool, Parent and Baby Toddler Group expressed thanks to everyone for helping them raise so much money.
