SPORTS and arts will keep children in Okehampton amused during a playscheme run by OCRA over the summer holidays.

The playscheme will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and supplement the one being run by the Open Door Family Support Group on Mondays.

OCRA's scheme is available to children between the ages of 6 and 14 and will begin on July 24 and run until August 23.

There will be lots of sports and outdoor pursuits including football, climbing, assault courses, tennis and trampolining and plenty of art activities.

Funding to run the playscheme has come from Social Services Early Years Development Forum and the Okehampton United Non Ecclesiastical Trust.

OCRA has also been given some funds to develop the scheme for children with special needs.

There will be plenty of games and competition with the emphasis being on fun.

The day's activities will run from 10am to 3pm and the cost is £5 a day or £3 concessions for families who are receiving benefits.

Last week's Okehampton Times reported on the playscheme being run by the Open Door Family Support Group.

The two local companies who responded to an appeal for funding were South West Water which donated £300 and Heinz which contributed £500.
