A CURRY evening and beetle drive hosted by Horrabridge Twinning Association recently was a true extravaganza — the annual event, which is part of the fundraising programme needed to entertain guests from Tilly-sur-Seulles in Normandy, was attended by four different twinning associations.

Mary Tavy, twinned with Mery Corbon in Normandy, was represented by their chairman Richard Thorne and many of their members. Burrator, twinned with Mathieuc, also in Normandy, were represented by their chairman, Karen Batson, and some members of their committee.

To add a truly international flavour to the evening Horrabridge's twin town of Tilly was represented by their president, Helene Letelier, and her sister, Francoise Anne, who had travelled from France especially for the occasion.

A selection of curries and puddings were provided by members of Horrabridge TA for the 48 diners that turned up.

The after-dinner beetle drive that started in an orderly fashion, quickly degenerated into chaos due to rules being lost in translation and resulted in one team being disqualified for playing with an unacceptable amount of dice!

David Cloke chairman of Horrabridge TA, thanked all who attended and said the evening was an indication that twinning was alive and kicking in West Devon.

Burrator Twinning Association has a quiz night in aid of the Children's Hospice South West on November 17 at Walkhampton Village Hall. Mary Tavy has a quiz night and ploughman's on November 26 at the Coronation Hall.
