FUN for the whole family is on offer at a series of four events this month at Kit Hill.

The days offer the chance to explore the historic site's rugged landscape and find out more about its animal inhabitants.

Tomorrow (Friday) there is a chance to learn about creatures of the night with an evening of bat and moth watching.  The event runs from 8pm to 11pm, starting from the Kit Hill summit car park. The cost is £2 for adults, £1.50 concessions and under 16s or £6 for a family, and includes a cup of soup.

On Sunday, August 16, a photography workshop offers an opportunity to learn how to compose shots and take close ups and landscape photographs. The session takes place from 9.45am to noon and begins at the Kit Hill adit car park.  Places for adults cost £2, concessions and under 16s are £1.50 and families are £6.

Budding sleuths can follow clues and puzzles along a family treasure trail on the Sunday afternoon. Children who complete the trail will receive a small prize and a certificate. Families can join the hour-long treasure trail any time between 1.30pm and 3pm at the Kit Hill summit car park. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The treasure trail is £1.50 for children and free for accompanying adults.

On Wednesday, August 19 children aged seven and over can have a go at canoeing and climbing with a splash and clamber session under the guidance of Cornwall Outdoors instructors. Parents are welcome to stay and join in.

Participants will need a packed lunch, drinks, a full change of clothes, towel, wet and dry shoes, waterproofs, a wetsuit if possible and a warm jumper and should expect to get wet.

The day starts at the Kit Hill adit car park and runs from 10am to 3.30pm. The cost is £20 for the first child and £15 for others in the same family.

Places on the events are limited and must be pre-booked by ringing 01872 323468.
