ON the eve of the first carnival in Chagford since the Millennium, two amazing Dartmoor horsemen are the headliners for an evening of great food and entertainment for all the family.

There will be a lamb roast, bar, music and plenty for all the family to see and do between 5pm and 10pm at the Jubilee Hall tomorrow (Friday).

At 8pm , Johnny Arden, author of 'The Wheels of my life', will be in conversation with Ed Hamer, co founder of Chagfood, a community-supported agriculture enterprise. Ed grows delicious, ethical food for Chagfood, with the help of Samson his horse.

Johnny and Ed share a love of horses and Dartmoor, so their exchange will be full of stories, experiences and how the past could inform the future. The theme of creating a more sustainable community will also be reflected with providers of local food, crafts and green enterprises present.

Pictures from the archive of photographer Chris Chapman will recall Chagford's days of yore, as will pictures local residents are contributing of their photographic memories of past Chagford carnivals.

Entry tickets are £2 and can be bought on the door.
