CULTURE, karaoke and kiddies' entertainment will all be featured in the First Aid Music Day on Bank Holiday Monday, August 27 in Simmons Park.
The programme is still to be finalised, but the day will have something to interest all ages and tastes.
The event, which hopes to raise money for people affected by the foot and mouth crisis, will kick off at 11am with a karaoke competition for adults and children and a celebrity panel of judges will present prizes.
Get your flares ready for a tribute band medley from 2pm and the night will come alive with the sounds of the 75-piece English Symphony Orchestra, followed by a dramatic firework finale.
In the style of the 'Last Night of the Proms' the evening performance will feature soprano Gail Pearson, violinist Michael Brochmann and conductor William Boughton.
Day ticket prices are yet to be confirmed but for the evening event the minimum ticket donation is £16. Children aged 14 or under go free. Tickets are available from the Okehampton Times, Donald's Menswear, Angel or the national box office on 01749 813899.
On-site facilities include catering, sanitation, medical and information points. Parking details are yet to be confirmed.
At a meeting of Okehampton Town Council's parks committee this week there was unanimous support for holding the event in Simmons Park.
A three-day festival, scheduled to be held on Okehampton Showground at the end of June, had to be postponed when MAFF said foot and mouth restrictions would not be lifted in that area.
Chairman of the parks committee Perry Vallance said: 'It will be a great day and I am very much looking forward to being there with my family.'
The First Aid Music Day has been supported by the South West Regional Development Agency and the Barclays Rural Regeneration Fund.
