THERE is still the chance for teams to enter next year's Son-Rise Cup football festival in Tavistock.
The festival, which raises money for Tavistock Youth Café Plus Group to help with its work caring for young people with special needs, will take place in May at Tavistock AFC and Tavistock College Sports Centre.
Entries for the senior/men's teams should be made by Saturday, October 31. The senior event will take the form of two leagues of six-a-side matches on Saturday, May 8 on the all weather pitch, with the final 11-a-side being on Sunday, May 9 at Langsford Park.
Teams already signed up are Tavistock Tyres and Union Ltd, the present champions; Young Farmers; Galactico, Brockington's Bashers, Hamleys' Ammers, Dawnus Construction FC, a team put together by Neil Jordain, Tavistock's football development officer and another from the Devon and Cornwall Police.
Allen Lewis, who is organising the event, said: 'We need about two more teams to really make it interesting!'
The draw will be made by Bob Champion on Saturday, November 7 at the 'Upsides for Autism' dinner at the Red and Black Club. Tickets for this event are nearly sold out.
