PARENTS and children from Bere Alston Primary school enjoyed a day of festive fun recently, which included making a Christmas star and learning about the festive garland in the Great Hall at Cotehele.

Activities were provided by Ruth Lewis from the National Trust and were thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The group had been taking part in a ten week Family Learning course which enables parents to find out how their children are being taught at school so they can keep up to date with teaching methods and support homework.  Other topics covered were ICT, healthy food, animation, literacy, numeracy and phonics.  All parents received a certificate from Devon Adult Community Learning on completion of the course.

Family Learning courses are free, fun and informative.  If you would like information about Family Learning  for your school or pre-school group please call Penny Westlake on 0781 697 3926.
