THE EMPHASIS on fun and enjoying their sport is very much the ethos for the junior teams at Okehampton Rugby Club and their U9s team (pictured right) who just can?t wait for the next game. Come rain or shine they will be found training on Friday nights at 6pm on the astro-turf pitch and play a game on Sunday. Their coach Craig Davidson is delighted with the team?s progress so far. ?It?s their first season of contact rugby after two years of touch rugby and they are doing really well. They have taken to the contact game remarkably well - and their tackling and rucking skills are coming on. ?At their age they we do not need to get too technical we just want them to have fun and not to get too serious. ?There are no cups or games to compete for, we just want them to enjoy their rugby.? There are already 23 members in the squad and girls are welcome. The boys play against other U9s teams such as Ivybridge, Barnstaple, Bude, Launceston, Tavistock, Crediton and Exeter Chiefs and Exeter Saracens.
