AN auction of pledges and a pasty supper last Saturday raised more than £6,700 for Children's Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal.

The Yelverton and District Friends' group of the charity organised the event at Walkhampton Village Hall.

It saw an auction of donated pledges and items, including a day's labour, cakes, a pile of logs and a day of horse riding, among many other things.

Linda Landick, of the friends' group said: 'Neil Woolcock and his team from Ward and Chowen ran the very successful auction for the Precious Lives Appeal.

'The evening was a big success and everyone enjoyed themselves and we are very pleased with the amount we raised.'

Mrs Landick has expressed thanks to everyone who helped to make the evening a success.
